Vermiculite is a natural occurring mineral which has been heated to extreme heats and expanded; this process is known as exfoliation. Vermiculite mines exist in South Africa, China, India, Australia and Brazil.
Vermiculite has many uses all around the world including loose-fill insulation, packing material, hand warmers, soil additive for plants, soil conditioner, media for raising seedlings and hydroponics.
Vermiculite is a well recognised growing media. Vermiculite has great aeration properties and excellent water holding capacity which makes it an excellent medium for direct contact with seed and plants. It is ideal for the germination of seeds, hydroponic growing or as an additive to soils and potting mixes.
