Growing Media   Grodan / Rockwool Grodan is a sterile and very versatile media with an excellent air to water ratio for optimal plant performance. Very popular with a variety of crops such as Tomatoes, Capsicum, Lettuce and herb growers. Lettuce and herb growers love Grodan as it leaves no "gritty" bits in your salad. Available in many sizes for example: cubes of 25mm x 25mm x 40mm for propagation of seedlings or cuttings and 75mm x 75mm x 65mm or 75mm x 75mm x 100mm for growing on of larger crops such as tomato or vine crops or Kiem Plug Trays for seed sowing. Each with a hole for seed placement. Sheets of multiple cubes can be placed on an Ebb and Flow propagation table for high density propagation. After germination they can then be transplanted directly into an NFT channel, moved on into the larger cube for growing on, or placed into a growpot and surrounded with media much as pumice, scoria, or vermiculite. Scoria Scoria is a common name for pyroclastic volcanic material characterised by high porosity and surface area. Available in different grades to offer different air filled porosity ratings. Our scoria is Kiln Steam Sterilized offering a disease free environment for your plants. Scoria is a stable material which can be used in plant production for several years without breakdown in physical structure or influence on pH. Scoria is an all natural product which can be return to the environment after cropping with no environmental concerns. It can be mixed with other medias to increase the air filled porosity. Jiffy 7s Jiffy-7 is a peat based pellet that expands when wet to form a natural planting pot which contains a planting medium that includes Lime and a low ammonium fertiliser. Perlite Perlite is a sterile, light material which is ideal for providing aeration for seeding. Hydroton Hydroton or expanded clay pebbles can be used for a variety of applications from flowers and vegetables through to trees and shrubs. They can be used in media beds, container or bag growing or flood and drain (ebb and flow) systems. Clay pebbles are chemically inert, have a neutral pH, do not degrade and are clean and odourless.
